Description
It has indeed been some time since an abstract made its way up. This started as one of who knows how many ideas I have for a work that is supposed to go into the living room of a friend of mine, but ended up going way off in another direction (not to mention its vertical orientation would not work in his horizontal space).
This has some rough spots at close scrutiny but otherwise evolved rather well once the palette was established. It is a combination of two base paintings done in acrylic ink, acrylic paint and screenprinting ink (dating back to several years ago) and a pair of layers done with exported bitmaps from different Apophysis flame fractals I was constructing.
The name of the work comes from a rather odd pop tune of the same name, by the long defunct band Bourgeois Tagg (whose members later on would work with Cracker, Frank Black, Jason Mraz, Beck, Smashmouth, Tony Williams and quite a few others - basically they were an amazing band that imploded and went off to work with people who would break big). The video was banned at one point from MTV for its images of what appeared to be gleeful suicide.

Lovely colouring! You always know how to mix so many textures together that work so well with each other.
