So, as i have stated before, one of my pet projects is buying old vinyl albums in bargain bins that have imagery I would like to play with. Basically I painted over the album cover, leaving the core concept there, but so radically overhauled as to be something totally different (there are numerous examples in my gallery of this...in many cases only a sliver of the original is even viewable anymore, or less)
This is from cult act The Teardrop Explodes (which was led by infamous UK eccentric Julian Cope), and the album is called "Wilder"
beautiful image. the hints of color amongst the viscious reds are really something. and god damnit, acrylic paint is the most incredible fluid substance in the world. i wish i could replace every once of blood in my body with acrylic paint. enough with the rags and linseed oil. all hail acrylic polymers!
Strange as it may seem, I've also considered doing what you've done to old album covers. I've been to several vintage stores, and they always have old obscure records that I would love to incorporate somehow into some design. I'm digging the warm colors in this one a lot.
