Artist's Comments

The final version of my little doodle tribute to the late, and oh so great Ray Charles. As a kid, you could catch Ray in everything from adverts to Sesame Street, and it wasn't until well into my 20s that I really realized the beauty this man radiated seated behind a piano and a microphone.

pencil, tombo marker, watercolor, granulation medium + digital

This is such a wonderful tribute, and Ray was indeed a very great man.

What really got me about this piece is how it made me smile when I first saw it. It's...beautiful.

Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure.
