So I cranked this out quickly tonight in between every other damn thing I am trying to do. It's a bit rougher than I would like but it was referenced from a rather grainy webcam shot.
This is ~fusion94 who I have known for several years, as we worked together at both VA Linux Systems and at Damage Studios. I have another of Tony I have been meaning to finish for a year now (it's been sitting in the pencil stage since I started it and I can't remember which pile of stuff it is in now) and I am sure I'll get to it eventually.
this is a pop-art remix, cause i had not done something this loud in a while.
pencil, water-soluable colored pencil, gouache, india ink, acrylic ink, tombo marker + digital
im rather digging the color scheme here, and for a grainy pic, i think you did a good job, man. loving the dark shadows on his face

i comment because i think your art is worthy of being critiqued. not cos i whore myself. not cos i care about being returned the favor. cos *you* deserve it. get it through your heads. if you think i deserve something, thats cool too.
Wehay, daily deviation- congratulations. I've gotta say that the shading looks a little violent [more mid colour on the forehead before the black perhaps?] but your style is one of the best I've seen for a while.
thats an excellent representation of illustration - i love the colors and the "calligraphy" at the bottom - it all works well together - ooh i really want to have this sort of talent - (said in the style of mr burns from the simpsons: ) excellent!
I think that the roughness from the webcam actually adds something to the image. The sharp contour lines in his face break up the monotony of the bright highlights in his forehead.
The color extending out and bleeding into the background from his face give it that slight pop art silkscreen look, but without overdoing it and making the viewer scream Warhol.
I especially like your choice of boarder shape. Wether or not you meant to, it makes it look almost like a Polaroid SX-70 manipulation with the image emulsion physically scratched and smudged around.
Excellent piece, and definately worthy of my +fav for the month.
Awesome +zeruch It's sweet to see your complete abstract
works on the front page, but it's equally as intense when you
throw us something as strong as this. It's a pediment portrait.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
