I was not (and still am not) totaly happy with my previous remix of Sade's Promise album sleeve.

I excised much of the digital overlay, added more paint and ink to the sleeve, and then torqued color for a while. I also cropped it to reflect a better cut of the image.

What this does share with its predecessor is the need to be seen large.

Oh dear god... I just LOVE the texture in this piece. And the colour. Don't get me started on the colour. I am in love. Thank you sir!

Beautiful composition and use of colour. Sort of reminds me of Picasso :) Great!

It makes me think of folk art--like painted wood maybe. I am not wild about the thick white lines. They seem too unnatural. I really like the cheek/nose area.

I like the brush work and the style. The thing that bugs me about this and the previous incarnation is the eyes and lips. The white outlines, I believe, really detracts from the overall image. They look like an afterthought and not a planned out element...the black and white lines are not working well together.

Oddly enough, the white lines were the first things that went down on the surface and the framework from which I built the rest. I did try to change the colors of those lines digitally, but nothing I changed it to seemed to work better.

I actually liked those simple lines so much I photocopied the initial linework, then redid the same lines as black ink on white bristol.

That said, I can understand why someone might not dig it, as I am not totally sold on this image myself. Parts of it work better than others (then again I feel that way about most things I do).

There is nary a portion of this piece that does not hold some form of compelling interest. Very engaging

It reminds me of cubism.

this is beautiful my friend

every inch squared, can be removed and is a piece of art in itself... and that is a goal all artists should wish to accomplish.
